যেসব noun অবস্থগত ধারণা বা গুণকে নির্দেশ করে, যাদের বাহ্যিক অস্তিত্ব নেই বা ইন্দ্রিয়ের সাহায্যে উপলব্ধি করা যায় না অর্থাৎ যাদেরকে দেখা যায় না, যাদের গন্ধ নেয়া যায় না, যাদেরকে স্পর্শ করা যায় না বা যাদের স্বাদ নেয়া যায় না, কিন্তু শুধু কল্পনা দ্বারা বা অনুভব দ্বারা বোঝা যায়, তাদেরকে Abstract Noun বলে। যেমন- agency, childhood, fatherhood, friendship, girlhood, heroism, infancy, manhood, motherhood etc.
Abstract Noun চেনার উপায়: Noun-এর শেষে suffix যেমন— ness, ship, cy,age, hood, ty, tude, mony, ment ইত্যাদি থাকে।
